An App a day keeps the Banker away!

by Adam Bean on February 12, 2012

So you have seen and heard the statistics on so called “smart phones”. You know the statistics that tell us some time  last year smart phone sales outstripped the sales of personal computers. In fact you don’t even need to be online to notice the effect this smart phone phenomena is having!

Think back to the last time you were walking down the main street in town. I mean it is hard to walk down the street these days without someone glued to their phone walking right into you because they can’t tear themselves away from the damn things for even a minute.

Am I right? or Am I right?

So how exactly is a “smart phone” going to affect your marketing?  You do remember how important your marketing is, don’t you ? Seeing how it is the tool your business needs to generate more leads, sales and cash-flow for you.

I mean these phones, they are not that smart! Are they?

Well the fact that the phone is smart is only part of the equation, the big part is as I mentioned earlier…

People seem to be permanently connected to them at the wrist when they are out and about! Which is vitally important because…..

When they are out and about they generally have money to spend burning a hole in their pocket.

Now there are a number of ways you can use this situation to your advantage, but the one that we are going to focus on today is………

Apps

Now when I talk about apps people tend to freak out straight away and come out with a comment along these lines…

Beanie I have barely worked out how to log on and share a link on Facebook! And now you want me to create an App! Are you mad?

Well the answer is YES I am mad!

But that is beside the point. Building an app doesn’t have to be a complex (or expensive, in fact we can do this for only a few hundred dollars!) thing to do, so in my next few posts I am going to step you through the process.

Even better how about this? I am going to step your teenage kids through the process. Don’t have any? I am sure you know someone who does that would be more than happy to do this for you for the price of an iTunes voucher!

I am also going to show you exactly where you can get step by step online training that your teenage kids can follow to make this App thing happen for you. See that banner at the bottom of this post? Go there (Yes I may make some money if you actually sign up for this course! Shock Horror I know) and for only $1 you will get trial access to all of the training required.

Just imagine you can take all off those hours of screen time that you though were wasted and turn them into a valuable asset!

Whod’ve thunk that would ever happen!

Anyway enough talk! Let’s take some action. Get over grab the training, let me know that you are ready to get started in the comments section below. And we can bounce around some ideas for how your app will work.

Cheers Beanie

Oh Shit I forgot my Wedding Anniversary… AGAIN

by Adam Bean on January 5, 2012

The 28th of December. Why is that such a hard date to remember? I am not sure why but I have locked it in my iPhone for next year! Cheers for that idea Annabel. I don’t think even I could get away with forgetting my wedding anniversary three years in a row. But don’t panic it isn’t all bad news! My wife forgot both times as well!

Guess it must be something to do with Xmas and the mad rush to catch up with everyone at that time of year. Believe it or not this post is going to take a dramatic turn right now as this predicament was an invaluable lesson on the power of effective social marketing strategies with the topic being….

Facebook Ad’s

Within minutes actually more like seconds of posting this status update below

The advertisement below showed up in my sidebar

As I said don’t worry my marriage is in no danger at all, for some strange reason my wife has no plans of leaving any time soon! Lol.
But how targeted is that? I update my status about forgetting my anniversay, and they don’t just run an ad about anniversary presents or anything like that.

They ran a save your marriage ad.

Just think of the power of speaking to someone and tell them exactly how you can fix their problem, directly after they have just announced their problem to friends and family. That is the reality of Facebook, that option is available to your business right NOW!

Do you think that they may be in the frame of mind to take action and do something about their problem immediately? I am no rocket scientist, but I am guessing the answer to that question is a resounding YES

Anyway back to my problem, which takes another twist. Before I realized (more like was made aware of) that the 28th is our wedding anniversary. I arranged for a number of family members to get together in Melbourne this year to go to the boxing day test on day three which is…. You guessed it, the 28th!

Now I can still save this as my wife loves going to Melbourne. This year is our 15th  wedding anniversary so I want the present idea I come up with to be a real pearler. So I need a little inspiration for gift idea’s. The traditional gift for 15 year is Crystal (boring), the modern gift is a watch. Yes I did just Google it!

Neither of these is really grabbing me, so I would love to hear your idea’s. What did you get, or what would you love to get for your 15th wedding anniversary?
